East Village Rooftop Addition

Our client wanted their NYC apartment to have a rooftop addition, aiming to maintain views of Lower Manhattan. We answered by preserving the existing school tower roof and enclosing the adjacent rooftop terrace. We included a glass pyramid, accessible via a stepped bookcase around the tower, a glass cube shaded by horizontal wood slats, and a glass and wood vertical box. A wooden stair hanging from the roof structure provides the glass box to connect to the apartments below.
